SPBD is a network of microfinance organizations working in Fiji, Samoa, Tonga and the Solomon Islands dedicated to eradicating poverty by empowering women in poor rural villages with the opportunity to start, grow and maintain sustainable, income generating micro-enterprises.

Mircea Onita

Mircea has over 20 years of experience in managing diverse projects and assignments in financial inclusion and SME space. In his last assignment he served as country manager for Oikocredit Romania and was instrumental in successfully achieving a 2-fold portfolio growth with excellent portfolio quality and operational efficiency.  He earlier worked as executive director, chief operations officer and general manager for regulated microfinance institutions wherein he has developed credit mechanisms for group and individual lending in Romania and Kazakhstan. Mircea also worked for over 14 years as an international expert/ project manager for various programs developed and implemented by UNIDO and UNDP in the areas of private sector development, SME, investment promotion, business incubation, policy advisory, microfinance and projects aimed at promoting women and young entrepreneurs in Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan), Yemen, Iran, Albania and Moldova. He has also been a professional trainer for over 20 training projects developed by UN agencies, USAID and Soros Foundation, aimed at imparting basic and advanced knowledge of finance and economics to various project beneficiaries (women and young entrepreneurs, Rroma groups, SME associations and local banks) in Central Asian countries, Romania, Moldova, Ukraine and Albania. Mircea is a Ph.D in economics with major in finance from Academy of Economic Studies.
