SPBD is a network of microfinance organizations working in Fiji, Samoa, Tonga and the Solomon Islands dedicated to eradicating poverty by empowering women in poor rural villages with the opportunity to start, grow and maintain sustainable, income generating micro-enterprises.

Amy Lofgren

General Manager, SPBD Tonga

Amy is a microfinance practitioner with over 12 years of experience creating, piloting, launching and managing revolving loan funds, village banks and microfinance institutions. Prior to becoming GM for SPBD Tonga, Ms. Lofgren was Country Manager for Caribbean Microfinance Ltd in St. Lucia for three years. She has been a microfinance consultant for Chemonics International, VIP Consulting Group, ACDI/VOCA, Deloitte Emerging Markets Group and A T Kearney Management Consultants. Her areas of expertise include creating Disaster Management plans for MFIs and their clients, client risk-mapping, staff and client training on cash-flow analysis and customer service, and creating livelihood solutions for Thai sex workers.  Some of the international organizations she has worked with include the IFC, OECS, EU Development Fund, DFID, CIDA and USAID.  She organized the 3rd Annual Microfinance in the Caribbean Roundtable in St. Lucia and was a featured speaker at the MCR in Guyana.  Previous to entering the microfinance field, Ms. Lofgren was a Federal Affairs Representative in Washington DC for three years.
